Work-whining kills your team’s performance more than any opponent ever will. Taught teams for 45 years – whining about physical exertion is an irreversible form of self-sabotage and team-sabotage.
There are many ways to commit self-sabotage. Each way has its own distinct ethos, a characteristic that makes it unique. But ironically, they all accomplish the same goal: get in the way of progress and move us away from what we’re supposed to achieve and who we are supposed to become. It’s easy to dismiss self-sabotage as fate or destiny. The hard part is acknowledging that you have control over it, starting with accepting responsibility to self and to the teams of people you live with, work with, and who depend on you.
Fear of work, fear of working out, fear of learning, fear of studying, fear of practicing. Taught teams for 45 years – fear of mind-body-soul exertion gets you killed in the regular season, post-season, hiring season. Sit around, stand around, F-around, never break new ground. Instead of cheering for your favourite team, workout like hell and make your own team your favourite team. If you hate work, exercise your free will and join another team that does less work.
If you’re healthy and can’t find the drive and energy to practice, learn, and workout, you are a threat to self and team. You have been brainwashed to work less and expect more. I’ve taught my teams for 45 year that your Will to Work determines whether you reach the next-level or sink to a lower level. Don’t blame the innocent when your competition outworks you. If your team tolerates half-ass work, they are enabling your weakness. Until you change your hate for physical work, nothing will work out for you and your team.
