We have overwhelming video and statistical evidence that a high-speed, high-passing offense will throw no-hitters in the fourth-quarter. A no-hitter is a fourth quarter without big hits from the opposing defense. We define â€˜big hitâ€™ as any KO or TKO â€“ a hit that knocks-out one of our players from the game, physically or psychologically, or knocks out the ball. Preventing big hits is at the top of our offensive list of player safety program. Our goal is zero knockout hits, eliminate them from our program. We have never suffered a big hit offensively in the fourth quarter since we changed to a warp-speed no-huddle in 1991.
Our warp-speed no-huddle protects our ball-carriers because of a chain reaction of events. High-speed no-huddle increases fourth quarter broken tackles, missed tackles, and downfield blocking which increases yards after the catch.

The X variable determines the full extent of YAC increase.
As the game progresses, defenses suffer from bad pursuit angles, bad form tackling, bad run-pass reaction, and bad play-action reaction. Thereâ€™s inverse relationship between offense and defense performance the faster you play on offense. As your offense plays faster, you get stronger while their defense gets weaker and slower. Reason is conditioning â€“ defensive playing speed and thinking speed are conditioned by the 90-10 rule: 90% of the game is rest, 10% play. Call a reverse â€“ change the 90-10 Rule around. Reducing down time reduces down time â€“ it reduces the number of downs needed to score. Thereâ€™s no stat more compelling than average number of downs needed to score.
Explosive no-huddle all starts in the weight room with â€˜speed strength conditioning.â€™ Not speed AND strength conditioning, speed strength conditioning. High-speed strength conditioning is a same-changer because it raises the bar of fitness level like no other lifting program. Reducing the down time between sets changes offensive performance by getting stronger faster and staying stronger longer. It all fits our program ideology to promote life-long fitness and fight obesity. We want leanness over bulk. Leanness always beats bulk.
