There’s no worse feeling that staleness. Going stale physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually takes the life out of you. Going stale is a serious problem because:

1.  It makes you prematurely grow old.

2. It drives people away from you.

3. Your completion passes you by.

4. Your competition passes you by.

5. Life passes you by.

Growing stale is the product of the unchallenged mind, the unchallenged body, the unchallenged soul. The absence of challenge makes you stale and old, regardless of what your birth certificate says. The solution is simple – learn something, lift something.  Read something challenging. Read something more than a Facebook news feed. Learn something that will challenge your mind to grow stronger instead of grow older. Lift something has a dual meaning – lift physically and lift others. Lifting anything will make you stronger. Lifting is natural. Lifting is an innate desire that starts in childhood. As children, we loved to lift, we loved to run, we loved to move. Sitting still wasn’t natural. Now, they negatively label the inability to sit still unless it’s to sit still to exercise thumbs on smart phones and video games which seems to be exempt.

Not sitting still is the key to preventing staleness and stopping premature aging before you reach the age of majority. Without a challenge, the growth process slams to a screeching halt and you go in reverse. You start a slide into a hell that hurts like hell. Growing stale hurts a lot more than moving in order to move away from hell.

We have two choices in life – sit still or lift. They’re connected. The more we lift others, they more they lift us. The more we move, the more we move others. Moving experiences are the sparks of life that light the inner fire to prevent the dead life of doing absolutely nothing challenging.  Without lifting, we are stuck with a depressing life. Staleness is depressing. Staleness brings you down, lower and lower, until you’re stuck with an old self who you and others will be desperate to move away from.

Grow strong or grow old. There’s nothing in between. Those are our two directions. We move one way or the other. We are born weak but are not meant to stay weak. This is a copyrighted excerpt that I’m using in two new books: 4th & Hell: Season 2; and, Lifter’s High. One of my biggest fears is growing so stale that I can’t recognize myself. I’ve felt that before and it scares the hell out of me. The good news about staleness is that it is high-potency motivation. It’s your inner soul of a lifter telling you to stop making excuses, can the self-pity, stop depressing the world, get off your ass and move and lift and get stronger because anyone can do it. You don’t have to be a genetic freak to lift, and run, and move and lift others and move others.

The workout song of the week by X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commonsis a reminder to step out of your staleness. The link is after my signature. Make the most out of your life and your life will make the most out of you. Renewal replaces old with new before old becomes permanent. Complacency makes what is old, grow older. August is the season to change, a time for renewal and personal growth. Making the most out of your life starts with a conscious decision to live your life fully in order to make the most out of you.
