Law of Detraction

“The time is coming when people will be insane and when they see someone who is not insane, they will attack that person saying: ‘You are insane because you are not like us.” – St Anthony Abbot, in the 4th century.

I love reading. Reading is the equivalent of working out. Neither one is a hobby. They are part of my oxygen supply. Can’t live without either one. In the past 48 hours, I’ve read depressing articles. There’s always been depressing literature but it’s on the rise. Over 90% of what you read and hear in a day is not good news. It’s closer to body temperature – 98.6% of what fills your head is depressing or not uplifting.

Those who depress you are detractors. Detractors are defined as those who distract you from your goals. Those who break your focus and cause you to fail. Those who try to ruin your day with conflict, bad news, meaninglessness, and emptiness. A detractor is anyone who doesn’t lift you.

Detractors become detractors because they hate lifting. They are conditioned to bring you down instead of lifting you up. One of the many reasons that detractors become detractors is futility of the mind – the have too much time on their hands. Detracting others is the only way they know how to fill their psychological void, their emptiness that plagues their existence and lack thereof. Left unchecked, detraction becomes a habit. They become good at it, so good that it’s the only thing they know how to do.

Detractors enjoy creating drama out of small meaningless events because drama excites them. Since they can’t accomplish anything worthwhile, their goal is to try to stop others from reaching accomplishments. Detractors go out of their way to put up obstacles. That’s their purpose.

The good news is that detractors have a purpose. The more obstacles they put up for you, the stronger you get when you overcome them. You get stronger every time you prove a detractor wrong.

Let’s celebrate the detractors of the world. Thank them for teaching you valuable lessons of what not to be. And lift them. Lifting your detractors is one way to change the world, one detractor at a time. The Law of Detraction is deep-rooted in human nature. Make it a goal to bring out their best instead of their worst. One of my goals in life is to not get stopped by detractors, to not get depressed by the depressing, and to try like hell not to depress others because depressing others and detracting others is hell. It always has been a fight and always will be. This blog is just one way of fighting back, of lifting instead of putting down. My next project is our new PODCAST that will have one purpose – to lift. No detractors will be on our Podcasts. There will be nothing depressing. Our Podcast will be different. It will be launched in the near future. Here’s a link to a new inspiring Youtube video produced by Shelley Palomba. It’s guaranteed to lift:
