There are many ways to #gettingcrushed. It can happen in sports, when you get flattened by a hit that leaves you sprawled on your ass. Or, it may be the final score of a game, where you got your ass beat so bad that the scoreboard ran out of lights. Or it could be at work, where you mess up bad enough to end up dead last in the next round of promotions. Or it could be when you apply for a dream job but someone else gets it, leaving you out of the running. Or it could be in your business where you screw up and don’t get paid for a few weeks or more, forcing you to live on a diet of sale-priced tuna. Or it could be getting crushed under a bar that you lifted last workout but dropped today.
#gettingcrushed will happen. It’s another guarantee along with death and taxes. #gettingcrushed doesn’t just happen. It doesn’t happen coincidentally, accidentally, randomly, or suddenly.
#gettingcrushed happens for a reason – we make it happen. At the top of the list of reasons is not preparing – not doing the right things. #notgettingcrushed takes endless training and flawless execution. Countless hours of isolated practice, separated from the social scene, secluded from the spotlight. The bad news is that #notgettingcrushed is expensive. There’s a price to pay to #notgetcrushed The good news is that few are willing to pay it so there’s a lot of room for those you have the will to pay for it.
No one in their right mind enjoys #gettingcrushed. No one playing with a full deck intends on #gettingcrushed. No sane person looks forward to #gettingcrushed. And you have to be out of your mind to accept #gettingcrushed so that it becomes a habit.
Good news. #gettingcrushed has a bright side. I’ve told my football players the good news about #gettingcrushed for decades – it’s a sign. A message to stop doing what’s #gettingyoucrushed and start doing the things that #wontgetyoucrushed.
In the long run, #gettingcrushed is a choice, a product of bad exercise of free will. You see, in a contest of will and strength, someone’s #notgettingcrushed and someone’s #gettingcrushed. There’s nothing wrong with #gettingcrushed. The only thing wrong is to repeat history and let history repeat itself. No one is immune from #gettingcrushed. What matters is what happens after you #getcrushed. #crushit or #getcrushed is a choice determined by fitness – s/he who exercises free will the most, #getscrushed the least.
